Welcome to Altiplano Alpacas, LLC

Welcome to Altiplano Alpacas, LLC!

Altiplano Alpacas LLC is a small ranching operation consisting of 9 gorgeous Huacaya alpacas (a Golden Retriever &  two cats).  By the end of October 07, we anticipated having our own ranch with our alpacas, but that didn't happen.  The real estate market and the economy crashed, so we still remain in our lovely home in Placitas, NM. But covenants preclude having alpacas, so we continue to agist our animals at Que Sera Alpacas, about 10 miles SE of Santa Fe.

Because the costs of continuing to agist the herd have become prohibitive, we are selling off most of the herd this spring, 2010.  We will do this as soon as possible and hope you will find one or more of our beautiful alpacas the perfect addition to your own herd.  See our Sales pages for all sale animals.  They are all VERY nice animals who've won numerous ribbons at shows; one color champ, and many blues and reds, with a few whites and one or two yellows just to keep us humble and remind us again that we always need to buy the best, breed to the best, and produce the best if we hope to earn those top honors at shows.

If you would like to visit us our animals and get your hands on a few of these beautiful babies, we would love to show them to you.  From Albuquerque or Santa Fe, follow I-25 north, about 5 miles past the last exit into Santa Fe, Old Pecos Rd, and get off at Exit 290 (to Clines Corners), which puts you onto Hwy. 285 South.  Head south about 5 miles to Jacinto Road, on the west side of the highway.  Follow Jacinto to the second driveway on the left; turn left (or south).  Que Sera Alpacas is at that corner, up on the hill to your right (west side).  Drive south a bit to the gate at the end of the fencing, and up towards the barn.  We'd love to show you our lovely alpacas and those of Que Sera.  If you're not in the market to buy, that's perfectly fine too.  We'd love to show you around anyway, and introduce you to all the alpacas of Altiplano and Que Sera.  Together we, and our friends across the road at AlpacaWorks, offer comprehensive services from several experienced breeders instead of only one.  We believe that our collective efforts are far greater than we could ever achieve alone, and the services available to customers is greatly benefited by our collaboration.

Altiplano Alpacas is an active member & supporter of the New Mexico Alpaca Breeders (NMAB).  It has many interesting events posted on the NMAB website, where you can also learn more about all the ranch-members in New Mexico. We hope to see you at the Santa Fe ranch where we can talk about - what else?  alpacas!!  Call Marilyn any time at 505-301-8114.

News/EventsBirths, Milestones....

Sept 11, 2009:  Our most beautiful boy yet, Altiplano's Rico Gold, son of Travesura's Altiplano Treasure, and grandson of 4Peruvian Altiplano Gold, was born to our Moonshadow, our Peruvian female from the Royal Fawn and Felix lines.  His fleece drapes in gleaming bundles over his entire body!  Treasure has passed on his extreme brightness & bundling to this boy and we couldn't be more delighted!  What a happy note on Sept. 11, a sad day in history.

March, 2010:  We're in the processing of acquiring half ownership of Travesura's Altiplano Treasure so we can continue breeding to this wonderful herdsire.  We have heard that all of Treasure's crias have fleece like Rico's!  We look forward to co-owning Treasure with Windrush Alpacas, Clovis, NM, and helping our fellow breeders take advantage of this male's fabulous imprint on his crias.

April, 2010:  If we do not sell several of our animals beforehand, we will take a big part of our herd to Nebraska for the Hartmann auction.  We must reduce our herd size until the real estate market turns around and we can sell our house and buy ranch property. Until then, the herd size MUST be reduced.  Our loss is very much your gain!  We will be selling or sendin:  Inka, Gizmo, Vencedor, Color Champion Ariana and her daughter, Anika, Gizmo, Gracie & Sienna.  The girls will be bred to Treasure! Who could resist such a fantastic deal as that?! What a winning combo!!!
